PCT High Impact Polystyrene PepCore™.

PCT High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) PepCore™ Honeycomb is a unique, closed-cell structural core material consisting of a high quality, High Impact Polystyrene thermoplastic material. The honeycomb has been used successfully in numerous transportation, architectural, commercial, construction and industrial applications throughout the world. Facing materials that have been used with PCT HIPS PepCore TM are plywood, MDF, aluminum, cold rolled and galvanized steel, ABS, HIPS, PVC, polycarbonate, Plexiglas, FRP, high-pressure laminate and numerous solid surface materials. Various adhesives such as neoprene based contact adhesives, epoxy, acrylic, polyurethane and methacrylate materials have been used to laminate specific facings to the honeycomb. Converting from conventional core materials to PCT HIPS PepCore™ only requires tools that are commonly used in woodworking operations.

PCT Polypropylene PepCore ™

PCT Polypropylene PepCore™ Honeycomb is a structural core material consisting of a high quality, Polypropylene thermoplastic material. The honeycomb may be used in transportation, architectural, marine, commercial, construction and industrial applications where light weight, rigidity, dimensional stability, chemical resistance, impact resistance, good temperature capabilities and moisture resistance properties are required. The honeycomb may be used with or without facing materials depending on the specific application. Facing materials that may be used with PCT Polypropylene PepCore TM are polypropylene, plywood, MDF, aluminum, cold rolled and galvanized steel, polycarbonate, Plexiglas, FRP and high pressure laminate materials. PCT Polypropylene PepCore TM may be bonded to Polypropylene faces using either ultrasonic or thermal welding processes. Various adhesives such as neoprene based contact adhesives, epoxy, acrylic, polyurethane and methacrylate materials have been used to laminate specific facings to the honeycomb. Before using the adhesives mentioned to bond faces to PCT Polypropylene PepCore™, the surfaces of the core should be corona treated prior to application of adhesives.  Converting from conventional core materials to PCT Polypropylene PepCore™ only requires tools that are commonly used in woodworking operations.

The honeycomb is available in thicknesses ranging from 0.25-1.50 inches and in standard sheet sizes of 4’x 8’ & 4’ x 10’. Special sheet sizes are available upon special request.
